A Modern Family Problem

Hello!  And welcome to my blog on the family [the most important unit of society].  As human beings we have an innate desire to form attachments, to find love, and to feel a sense of belonging.  And although marriage is significantly related to happiness, and satisfaction, the number of individuals getting married is decreasing.  Perhaps marriage trends are indicators of change in how individuals see and pursue happiness.  For example, our culture is very individualistic.  The 'we' vs. 'me' attitude strongly pervades some relationships.

I've noticed recently that the family has become a joke in our modern society. Evidence of this trend can be found on television -- in shows such as "Modern Family", "Glee", and even children's television ("Sweet Life of Zack and Cody", etc.).  Rude, immoral, and vengeful conduct is celebrated.  Meanwhile, trends in society show the effects of a morally degraded populace with pre-marital sex, cohabitation, and births out of wedlock on the rise.

The most interesting thing to me about these trends is that they seem to stem from a single source.  We have lost our love for each other in favor of tolerance to each other.
